DUTIES
Scope technical tasks and develop creative solutions to assigned problems. Begin using systems and
meeting requirements with minimal supervisory guidance. Accepts complex tasks and receives minimal
guidance from senior professionals.
Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as
complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult
coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
Provide limited guidance and direction to less senior engineering professionals.
Carry out development and qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other phases such as design
and fabrication to better evaluate and minimize future problems.
Develop alternate solutions to existing problems. Perform all detail work necessary to determine best
solutions.
Evaluate proposals and make recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks in area of
assignment.
May delegate portions of the detail work to less senior personnel.
Prepare costs and schedule estimates on proposed projects/tasks in assigned area. Demonstrate cost
and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Prepare manuals and other documents supporting or publicizing the technical effort. Demonstrate
creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical
papers and articles.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: In applicable science or engineering discipline entry level PhD degree, MS degree with 2-4
years experience; or BS and 5-10 years experience.
Experience/Skills: Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories,
concepts, principles and techniques; has working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices
and applications
Experience with computers and software to include: Word, Excel, Power Point, and other software and
tools as needed.
Experience with the design, procurement, fabrication and installation of Gloveboxes within the DOE
Complex.
Ability to analyze complex operations, identify solutions and implement/track projects to successful
closure including good organizational skills.
Proficiency, experience, and knowledge with procurement acquisition processes and project management.
Ability to effectively work in partnership with peers, Design Authority Engineers, Procurement, Quality
Assurance, Glovebox Manufacturers, and Test organizations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are
preferred.
