Job Description


An Advanced Work Packaging professional plans and performs work requiring sound engineering judgment in the breakdown of large construction projects into smaller, discipline specific, manageable and planned pieces of work for installation by field crews. This position is responsible for promoting Advanced Work Packaging objectives and procedures and coordinating the activities of personnel.
  • Promote Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) objectives and procedures
  • Train personnel on organizational policies and project specifics
  • Assist in recruiting, developing and retaining AWP personnel
  • Assist managers in the development of execution sequencing
  • Work with various departments to facilitate the transfer of information
  • Audit Installation Work Packages (IWPs) to ensure that project requirements are met
  • Coordinate with other construction groups on-site to compile work packages
  • Facilitate transparent reporting by compiling status updates from personnel
  • Trains junior AWPs and organizational personnel on Fluor’s AWP policies and procedures
  • Implement project AWP program policies across all targets
  • Establish strong working relationships with Area Construction Management AWP personnel
  • Manage work package coordination in support of the Path of Construction and Schedule
  • Facilitate scoping sessions, constraint removal sessions and closeout meetings
  • Work with the Engineering organization to align Construction Work Packages
  • Ensure accuracy and availability of data required to build work packages
  • Facilitate and expedite the removal of construction constraints throughout projects
  • Assist Project Controls team to align their data management implementation of AWP
  • Ensure good record keeping in accordance with AWP procedures
  • Assist the group Construction Manager as required
  • Work with the group Construction Manager to ensure logs are in compliance with AWP reporting requirements
 

Basic Job Requirements

 
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and (10) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to (14) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Discipline Specific Job Requirements

  • Develop and administrate department budget
  • Development Global AWP Strategies, Implementation Plans, and Responsibility Matrix
  • Assure that proposals have adequate resources in staffing plans and hour estimate to support AWP and Execution Strategy includes AWP during Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Engineering, and Construction
  • Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action
  • Support Construction by including AWP in the Construction Execution Plan
  • Support the preparation of specific AWP Manual for projects
  • Practice Development. Determining which practices and procedures are essential to provide quality and enhance construction driven execution, while also reducing the volume of practices and procedures to a manageable number. Improving accessibility in remote and difficult work environments, improving consistency and delivery model
  • Review and approve applicability in the Quality Requirement System within the project scope of work
 

Preferred Qualifications

 
  • Ability to speak/read multiple languages
  • Possess operational and personnel management skills
  • Possess problem solving, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
  • Extensive understanding of construction operations and support functions
  • Ability to collaborate and adapt to changing conditions
  • Capable of performing constructability assignments in the office(s) and/or at the site
  • Advance computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, email, spreadsheets, and electronic presentations
